IS YOUR "ME TIME" REALLY YOURS?

Yes, we are meeting after a very long time!  I was giving myself a "ME TIME", haha!! that's what we all say right. But have you ever thought that is your "me time" really yours, or you are just forcing yourself to be with you? just because you were said it will make you happy. Isn't it a toxic relationship? We all are told by some or the other experts to give ourselves time, spend some time with ourselves. And we think that during this time we will do something just for ourselves. And in this process, we land up being selfish at times. Alright, I will give you a real-time example of what happened with me. Being a Prenatal and postnatal coach I was taking counseling for a 2-month newborn mom. As usual, she was facing postpartum sleep struggles, and I being the 'same' medical expert advised her to take "ME TIME" telling her it will help her relax better. A week later, we had a session and I asked her what did she do in her "me time"...

Detox water :-


Old is Gold. Who cares!! now its fashion for platinum and diamond. Show-off is the most substantial nature shown in this cohort. We struggle to put ourselves in the track of being superior. But somewhere we all know where we belong to.

We are struggling to lose weight by adopting the paleo diet, intermittent diet, and blah blah diets. Come on guys, we have the best Indian herbs and food around us which will help us to stay healthy without struggling.

A very undesirable fight to prove one's diet right is going around us. I felt pity for one of my customer whom I asked to go for jaggery and water for detoxification, and she bragged about not having jaggery and to tell her some fancy recipe. I was shaken by her act. So, I m here requesting you,  to go with platinum but do not forget the value of gold.

GOLD is still the purest thing in Hindu mythology. As so are the uses of some forgotten herbs and ingredients which might help to detoxify oneself and lose weight too.







WHAT IS DETOX WATER?

Also, known as fruit-infused or fruit-flavored water. Detox water is water that has fruit, vegetable, or herb-infused in it. It has a very less calorie count. It helps lose weight and supplement the body with water-soluble vitamins and minerals.


SOME GOLDEN DETOX WATER RECIPES

JAGGERY WATER

I remember being forced to drink jaggery water early in the mornings, during winter trips at my village. Jaggery with warm water in the morning helps stabilize our body temperature and boost metabolism. Ayurveda crowns this as an antidote to boost digestion and effective against kidney issues. Article by Tanya S Kapoor, a nutritionist addresses it to be useful for weight loss too.

PREPARATION
 ⥵ A glass of warm water.                                              
 ⥵Add a cube of jaggery
 ⥵ Mix till it dissolves
 ⥵ Drink immediately

CUMIN WATER

Besides having countless benefits, jeera or cumin water is also known for its detoxifying nature and weight loss benefits.
Cumin has a nice earthy flavour-packed with health benefits. Low calories, packed of antioxidants,  improves digestion, increases metabolism and fat burning are some well-known benefits of it.

PREPARATION
⥵Soak 1 tbsp of jeera in a glass of water ( soaking jeera for overnight,  release bioactive compounds )
⥵Strain the jeera and chug down the water.

BARLEY WATER

Rich in vitamin-B complex, iron, dietary fibers, and various antioxidants. It has high-calorie content so it must not be taken more than two times a day. Adding this your diet can help in:
  *reducing heart disease risk
  *reduces cholesterol
  *stabilizes blood glucose levels
  *a good remedy for UTI
  *recommended for pregnant women

PREPARATION
 ⥵ Soak for 4-5 hours
 ⥵boil it for 15 min
 ⥵strain the barley grain
 ⥵chug the water (you can keep it cool)

SOME PLATINUM  DETOX WATER RECIPE





Strawberry-cucumber water
 It makes the water tastier and yummier than ever.

Tomato- Basil water
 It might sound a little weird but this simple combination brings the perfect combination of taste and health. You get to taste the garden-fresh flavor of your salad bowl to your water glass.

Apple-Cinnamon water
Aromatic flavors of cinnamon and sweetness of apple make this drink refreshing and flavorsome.

Cucumber-mint-chia seeds
Chia seeds are good source of fiber and antioxidants and also contains protein. this is now the most trending infused drink.


PREPARATION

All these ingredients,  strawberry, cucumber or tomato should be sliced and kept in water for at least 1-2 hours. You can keep on adding water to it once the previous is over. HERBS should be added a few minutes before drinking.


I divided these recipes, not on the basis of nutritional or calories content but on the basis of ingredients available and how old they were.
